"Both of my ACE boxes work exceptionally well for many different tasks."

Dear Gordon (GTH Electronics)

Hello and good afternoon,

I'm writing this email in appreciation of the excellent customer care service I've received, and would like to thank you for your knowledgeable technical support given on many occasions. In particular, during my interest in purchasing an additional "ACE" unit. This time with the "Inverse" option fitted.

Both of my ACE boxes work exceptionally well for many different tasks. Both are primarily used for real time PC-based capturing and transferring of footage for MPEG2 encoding. Corrections made on the fly during PC capture is a great way to be more productive and inventive.

The ACE's help me make changes of aspect ratios, time-based locking of VHS and the transference of cinematography sources very simple to do.

The new "Inverse" option is great. Not only can I reduce the image size easily for viewing on a non-underscan monitor, but it also provides me with a reduced size for capturing purposes. This was an important feature I needed for a project.

With this reduced image, It was relatively easy for me to add some software encoded photo-framed type beveled borders to the final footage whilst maintaining the correct aspect ratio. As a by-product of reducing the image size the ACE also filtered out some of the excessive grain from the original material.

Having used ACE's for a while now, I often find sending video signals through these boxes creates for me a cleaner and more polished output.

All of my projects created using the ACE's are well received by my clients and for my own personal projects. It's amazing how the "ACE" can enhance your thinking and your standard of work.

Anyway, you're more than welcome to place a copy of this email on your website as I'm a very satisfied customer and would whole-heartedly recommend both the ACE as a product and GTH Electronics as a respected supplier.

Yours sincerely

Larry Galliford

"What a remarkable box. I quickly discovered its quality was superb"

Gordon

What a remarkable box. Originally purchased so that I could handle 4.43 NTSC outputs from Digital8 and DV/DVCam it does a superb job for such a small investment. I quickly discovered its quality was superb, producing clean signals on all NTSC/PAL/SECAM Combinations. Over the past few months it has been promoted to a key piece of Kit - has been used for colour corrections salvaging some clients footage, as a TBC, a Standards converter for all domestic formats and even as a fader for Telecine / Duplication. A very versatile multi-purpose unit that is remarkable value. Any chance of a 19" version????

PS. Put me down as a satisfied customer!!!!!

Cheers
David

"It is a dream come true as to how well it works!!!"

Gordon,

I would like to say a massive 'THANK YOU' for the arrival of my ACE box which did indeed arrive bright and early on Tuesday morning after I only ordered it from the NET on Saturday.

It is a dream come true as to how well it works!!!

Everything the reports said about it is true. It is the 'Puppies Privates'.

Thanks again,
Regards,
D. Kofou

"It .. can only be described as of being exceptional quality."

Dear all at GTH,

Just a quick note to say thanks for all your help when ordering the Ace Advanced Converter. Your standard of customer sevice is what all companies should aspire to!

As for the product itself, I am impressed. It lives up to its reviews and can only be described as of being exceptional quality.

Thanks again,
Chris Markham.

"It was an excellent "out of box" experience."

Dear Gordon,

I was startled today (Saturday) when the post arrived with your box - only two days after you sent it. They didn't want any customs duty either.

Luckily, I had already purchased the Radio Shack "Wall wart" power supply, so I was able to give the ACE an immediate test.

It was an excellent "out of box" experience. Packaging and documentation were very good. I plugged in and had instant success playing a PAL videotape into my NTSC TV display. So far, I can only test the composite input, but the picture from a second generation PAL tape looked much better than the conversion NTSC tape I had had made earlier. I haven't played with the adjustments yet.

Best Wishes,
Martyn (USA)

"Talk about plug & go...perfect copy of my NTSC tape onto PAL"

Gordon,

Re: the above order for the ACE. It arrived yesterday (as promised)

Talk about plug & go. Quite literally, plugged all leads in (didn't adjust ANY of the dials) and it produced perfect copy of my NTSC tape onto PAL. Then as a 'trial', I tried a couple of DVD's and they've come out perfect too. What an excellent product - thanks. Reason for email is that if you require a 'reference' customer for any potential clients, please don't hesitate to provide them with my email address - I'm more than pleased with how it's working.

Many Thanks,
Pete Jones

"I can now successfully copy my tapes onto DVD without any problems whatsoever."

Dear Gordon,

Just a quick message to let you know I have put the new updated ACE through its paces and am ecstatic with the result, to say the least.

I'm copying my VHS collection to DVD via my PC. As you may know, recording onto DV (or digital recording media) can be virtually impossible if you lose sync signal - it results in either a complete breakdown in recording, or the picture freezes for a few seconds before it catches up again.
I've got some really dodgy tapes of concerts which were recorded by other people many years ago, and some of them have signal losses and tape damage and even flicker to black and white occasionaly. The old ACE couldn't cope with the colour loss situation and the result was vertical colour bars.
The new ACE, however, copes with this problem beautifully and keeps the colours looking normal once the colour signal comes back! I can now successfully copy my tapes onto DVD without any problems whatsoever. I am once a gain a very happy and extremely satisfied customer!!!

Thanks Gordon.
Best wishes,
David Backhouse

"highly pleased with the quality .. a most valuable piece of kit."

Dear Sir,

Many thanks for the ACE convertor that was delivered safely this morning.

I am already most impressed with the unit. I found it easy to set up and install, and have already successfully converted some NTSC tapes to PAL, and am highly pleased with the quality of the PAL copies.

Thank you very much for your prompt service. I would be happy to recommend this product to other video users as a most valuable piece of kit.

Yours sincerely
Mike Taylor, Portsmouth

"tried converting my first tape from PAL to NTSC...very satisfied with it"

Gordon,

I received the ACE 8 hours ago and I had tried converting my first tape from PAL to NTSC. It went succesfully well and I am very satisfied with it. I now can send NTSC copies of my PAL family tapes to my relatives in the USA and Philippines.

I can also connect my DVD to my TV via my VCR by putting the ACE in between the DVD and VCR.

I calculated the delivery from UK to Australia took about 8 working days after I ordered it from the net.

"I actually have far better copies than the originals in some cases..!"

Just wanted to let you know that I have just transferred a number of old (and very precious) tapes to DV using the ACE (and a canopus A2D)   and the ACE   is BRILLIANT! I actually have far better copies than the originals in some cases - Great product! With a few adjustments I don't now need to mess with the digital video half as much as I expected, and have saved hours in rendering time.

Regards

Mike Keay

"What a fantastic piece of kit - ACE by name, ACE by nature :-)"

I just HAD to submit feedback on the ACE...what a fantastic piece of kit - if anyone out there is only contemplating a purchase, don't...JUST BUY IT!!

ACE by name, ACE by nature :-)

"quality .. much better than .. tapes I have had commercially converted"

Dear Gordon,

This is just a short note to both let you know that the ACE arrived in great shape and to thank you for your prompt handling of my order.

The ACE arrived on Thursday and I used it on Friday to convert home videos of a wedding. I converted some taken on US equipment to send to relatives in Europe and some tapes taken on European equipment to distribute to relatives here. The process was extremely easy, thanks to your thorough and clear manual. In addition the quality of the conversion was much better than I have seen on tapes I have had commercially converted.

In addition, as often happens with home videos, the quality was not that good. I was able to use the ACE to enhance the bad footage and significantly improve the copies. I was hoping this could be possible based on what your web site said of the ACE but the results exceeded my expectations by a wide margin.

Of course the bottom line results are very important but in addition in reading through the manual I was very impressed by the thoroughness of the design and the clever use of the controls.

Now perhaps you've received thanks enough in my purchase funds but I still wanted to thank you explicitly and to express my appreciation for your accomplishment. I don't have many acquaintances who might need an ACE but should anyone solicit my input I shall enthusiastically recommend the ACE to them.

"I captured a 3Hr 15Min beta tape in one sitting without any problem!"

Gordon,

Just a quick note to let you know that the ACE solved my problem!

Recapping... I was attempting to capture analogue video to a computer via a hardware MPEG encoder. The associated software would quit with an error if there was any gap in the tape between video segments.

I captured a 3Hr 15Min beta tape in one sitting without any problem!

Thanks again,

Mark (Australia)

"I can now easily master NTSC DVD's professionally from PAL sources"

I received my little box of wonders and it, in the overused words of the Ronseal advert "Does what it says on the tin". Thank you so much, it has made my life so much easier already in three days. I can now easily master NTSC DVD's professionally from PAL sources, which I obviously couldn't before. Best £300 I've spent in a long while.

Cheers Guys

Chris Squires

"To all the wary - Buy one. That's my advice. You'll be glad you took it."

Dear Gordon,

Arrived as promised the other day and has been working double-shifts ever since. What can I say? A really first class piece of kit for the price, and so easy to use. Even for an old codger like me. What is it they say these days....? Plug 'n' play? Yep! That's it for sure.

Also - I like the way you do business. It is most comforting to get a confirmatory e-mail when the goods have been despatched.

In short - if anybody out there has a need for the sort of thing the ACE does, then might I suggest they shouldn't waste time looking at any other products in this price range - because I have, and there simply aren't any that are as competent and well specified as this box. The ACE rules the roost and deservedly so.

Thus, to all the wary - Buy one. That's my advice. You'll be glad you took it.

All the best,

Alister

"Picture quality is beautiful & the ARCing is amazingly good quality."

Hello Gordon,

Received safely this morning.

What a superb box of tricks. Picture quality is beautiful and the ARCing is amazingly good quality. It's also lovely to have a piece of equipment that doesn't require rendering or diving into endless menus to adjust things.

Many thanks for an excellent quality product and service!

Cheers,

Rory

"In over 30 years of buying television equipment..the most versatile..kit."

Gordon,

ACE arrived Saturday as promised. Solved it's first technical problem for me on Sunday - NTSC DVD that I needed to lift some material from onto an online edit suite. Used the bar generator to set up a couple of monitors today. In over 30 years of buying television equipment this is definitely the most versatile and probably the cheapest bit of kit I have ever purchased.

Merry Christmas.

Best regards,

RB.

"I am currently recording an old vhs tape to my DVD and all the problems I had are gone!"

It works perfect!

"It works better than I could have imagined...and the quality is near perfect."

Dear Gordon

While living in America during the mid-80s I bought an early camcorder. After returning to England 16 years ago (having shipped a US TV set to view video) I continued to use NTSC, as we initially intended to go back. The incompatible TV systems has always been a frustrating problem, but now apparently no more, thanks to the ACE. It works better than I could have imagined. For the first time, I have been able to view home videos on my UK TV set. About ten years ago I paid £50 to have half an hour of video converted professionaly, and the quality is not as good as the Ace manages. I am currently using it in conjunction with a Miglia Director's Cut to put the video into the iMac, and the quality is near perfect. I haven't burned a DVD yet, but I will soon. (GTH Note: A later email confirmed complete success)

Thanks for your help and this remarkable box.

Joe

"Without doubt the ACE has done a good job here"

Dear Gordon,

If ever anybody doubted the value of having independent control over red, green and blue input during video editing then the following example should settle the argument.

I am currently working on a project which tells the story of china clay production from the quarry, through the various refining process and laboratory test to its final destination in tableware, sanitaryware, paper, paint, abrasive cleaners, toothpaste and even washing powders.

Colour is a major player in the `quality control' of china clay production and the china clay company who have commissioned this work are 'quality assured'. It therefore follows that my video must be correct in terms of colour since this is no longer a subjective aspect, but rather an objective aspect.

China clay arrives by pipeline from various quarries around the county and is initially blended in huge outside tanks measuring about 100ft across and resembling giant food mixers. In this situation there is no problem in reproducing the colour accurately at the filming stage as the following 'still' shows.

China clay being blended in outside tanks under daylight

However, from that point on the process goes indoors and, for economy reasons they use a sodium lighting, the colour of which borders on the bright red. Needless to say it is impossible to compensate for this at the filming stage and the following picture shows the result at the point at which the clay is being filtered for impurities. (Until the very end of the process the clay stays as a 20% solution in water).

China clay being filtered indoors under soduium lighting

Using your ACE I have eliminated the red and by careful adjustment of green and blue together with fine tuning on saturation I have been able to correct this back to what it should look like in daylight as this final picture shows.

China clay as above but with colour balance corrected

I am not troubled by the colour of light filtering through the small window behind - it is the colour of the clay that is the major concern.

Without doubt the ACE has done a good job here and please feel free to cite this example if you so wish.

Best regards,
Terry Hearn (Freelance Videographer specialising in producing Documentaries)

"I was able to correct all faults. A superb piece of kit!"

Dear sir,

Just a short note to say how delighted I am with the ACE Processor. I can now make two copies at a time and make 3rd generation tapes of a quality to match 2nd generation. I have video'd a show locally for an Amateur Company. The lighting was horrendous, my Hi-8 camera produced a red cast, but with the processor I was able to correct all faults. A superb piece of kit!

Yours sincerely,
B.T.Bennett

(GTH Note: The current version of the ACE Processor now allows up to FOUR copies to be made at a time.)

"The final copy can appear considerably better than the original."

In various magazine reviews, there seems to have been no mention of the high quality of the reconstructed signal from ACE digital enhancers. Copies from 8mm to VHS are extremely clean, smooth and stable. Unlike most other processors, there seems to be no detriment to the image whatsoever, and full sharpness is retained. In fact, by careful use of the controls, the final copy can appear considerably better than the original and it's worth leaving the magic box permanently in circuit.

The only problem is the temptation to fine tune every scene, which makes editing a rather lengthier business than it used to be! One other point - it's worth using the bypass button occasionally during a long editing session to refer back to the character of the original footage. The eye can adjust to gradual changes made to the picture which may result in a video programme that becomes progressively different in colour or brightness.

"makes editing so much easier and faster and enables accurate fine adjustments."

Hello Gordon

Many thanks for ACE Processor received recently.
Have now used it with great success. It was the familiar problem of trying to make subtle adjustments to saturation and colour balance by software, and finding that after rendering, I had either over or under compensated.
The unit placed between camcorder and capture board makes editing so much easier and faster and enables accurate fine adjustments.

Thanks again
